President's Message - 01 September 2016
Here we are at the start of Spring with a great program ahead to put a spring in your step. Let loose and clear the cobwebs with the upcoming dances; train with the Huff and Puffs and join Team Aquabox at the Melbourne Marathon events; lots of fun on Cup Day at Kinglake and our signature event of Spring, the Eltham Rotary Festival. Coupled with a stimulating clubnight program we are in for a season of fun, fellowship and fundraising. What a privilege for us to have Susan Alberti AC as our guest speaker on ‘Women in the AFL’ in the heart of the finals.

Congratulations to Brett and the Rotaractors for their successful Trivia Night in support of the Diamond Valley Learning Centre – the pictures featured in last week’s fines session told the story!

The Rotary International theme for September is Basic Education and Literacy and we can be proud of how we are supporting access to education for disadvantaged groups both locally and internationally. The Boston Secondary School in the slums of Matopeni, Kenya; Muskaan School for children from the slums of Bhopal, India; the Diamond Valley Learning Centre for at-risk teens; and the CAVE scholarships program - all open the doors to meaningful education and help break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage.

Eltham Rotary certainly represents "Humanity in Motion". Now is the time to invite a potential Rotarian to join us on 15th September when we showcase all aspects of the fun, fellowship and service that make us THE Rotary Club of Eltham.

President Kevin
