Welcome aboard to Veronica Kioria, our first new member for the 2018/19 Rotary year who was inducted last week. We look forward to Veronica’s support and club involvement in the months and years ahead.
The first trial of Club Committee meetings to be held on a club night got underway last week and considering the number of members currently holidaying in warmer places, it was terrific to see forty members in attendance. Several meetings were held concurrently including Community, Youth, Aquabox, PR, Membership, Administration, Festival Precinct Managers and Festival Sponsorship. Thank you to team leaders for their agenda preparation and running of meetings. Thank you also to our members for willingly getting on board and embracing this first round of meetings. There certainly looked to be a hive of productive Rotary work going on, one of the main aims of the evening. Our dear friend PP Macca first trialled the idea of committee meetings on a club night. He too believed that we should consider member workload and commitments and try to accommodate some committee meetings on club nights. However, due to insufficient space at the Common, where we met at the time, it was difficult to run several meetings concurrently. At HGC though, and with HGC approval, we’re able to spread out and use other available spaces which certainly made it easier to run our meetings. The next round of Club Committee meetings is scheduled for Thu Oct 18th.
Club Treasurer, Michael Martin, announced to members the introduction of a 30c surcharge on card payments, effective from Thu 30/8. Initially a suggestion by one of our members at Club Assembly, this was further discussed and agreed to by the RCE Board and is one step towards defraying some of the financial administrative charges currently being met by the club. Michael also reminded members about overdue fees as several payments are still outstanding. The club has already paid substantial district and RI fees, on behalf of RCE members, and now needs to be reimbursed for these payments. If you wish to pay in instalments, then please organise this with Michael. Fees or instalments can be paid to the duty team or through direct debit, as per your fee invoice information.
We have recently received several notes of appreciation thanking our members from: Marlene, Ashleigh, Jessica and Josh for WEHI Scholarship presentation night; Alison, for messages of support and get well wishes; and Jill Kerr, DG’s wife, for RCE’s donation to the ‘Buy a Bale’ fund.
Have you booked for the Footy Night Thu Sep 13th? If not, please do so ASAP. www.Trybooking.com/415734

Aquabox Update
The new Eltham Rotary Aquabox website, with updated pics and a fresh new look based on the latest Wordpress platform, is now live
The old dot.com URL has been replaced with a dot.org tag which better reflects the Aquabox charitable and benevolent status.
Go:  www.aquabox.org.au for the new Aquabox experience.
A second development is the reconstruction of the Aquabox Power Point Presentation for our Eltham club members when they present to to other clubs as guest speakers to seek funding for the project. There are new pics and more up-to-date reports on the recent Aquabox successes in Cambodia and the Philippines.
Lastly, Eltham Rotary branding has been incorporated in all of the Website pages and each of the new Aquabox Presentation slides to make the Eltham Rotary branding consistent across all publications.
