I have had a great day today with family and friends at Lower Eltham Park raising valuable funds at our BBQ.
It is evident from your recent surveys that the workload from our BBQ is worrying to some of you so I suggest that we try to revive my "bring a buddy to the barbie" campaign - something I suggested last year.
If we all asked a family member or friend to come along and assist us we could reduce the workload immensely and it adds to the enjoyment if you have family or friends sharing your day.Incidentally we took over $1100 to help us with our valuable projects.
A reminder that this week we have Club Assembly so no visitors. We will discuss amendments to our By Laws, announce your Board for 2016-17, and this years Directors will be available to answer questions.

Rotary Presidents are changed every year. This year President David hands the "Presidential Chain and Satchel" over to PE Kevin Hadingham.
There is a formal dinner, bring a partner, and a bit of entertainment. That where the fun begins and the incoming President starts their year. There is usually a bit of entertainment and a bit of dancing. In past years we have had a variety of raunchy entertainers, bands and singers. Further back in time we have had "revues" and before that we even had the brand new President arrive on stage clothed in a Nappy, just like New Year. Thoughts of the image puts a shudder down the spine, Kevin in a nappy is not something one would want to see.
This is an important event in the Rotary Year, make sure you mark it in your calendar.

This week is Club Assembly. President elect, Kevin Hadingham, will present his findings from the recent survey of Club members. The Board seeks a new 3 year plan, Kevin has completed a lot of analysis. Questions submitted to the secretary by Mon 25th April will be addressed by Board members.
Also, the 2016/2017 Board will be announced.
President David will ensure fair play. Judy Sharp will be in the Chair since discussions/outcomes will impact her Presidency in 2017/2018. Jill Ramsay will boost the coffers with a lively Fine Session.
The venue is The Common, 6.15pm for 6.45pm; $35 for two course meal and drinks at bar prices. Be sure to be there for this important Club evening or be square.
Special thanks to Ian Kiddle, Graham Miles and my family for coming back from their holiday retreats especially for their rostered BBQ duty this week. A great day with takings over $1,100. That is dedication for you.
A major Fundraiser coordinated by the Eltham Interact Club at MSC will be held on Friday 27 May at Willandra Park Greensborough to raise funds for Wheel Chairs For Kids. The goal is to raise $500 for 20 chairs to be sent to Timor Leste. Many members will recall the presentation by this awesome group last year. They have sent over 200 rugged purpose-built wheelchairs to areas of need in the developing world.
A demonstration wheelchair basketball match is planned for 11th May at Montmorency Secondary College in the basketball stadium to raise community and media awareness of the event
It is a combined community event between Rotary Club of Eltham International and Youth Service committees / Montmorency Secondary College/ Interact Club and Diamond Valley Rotaract Club , with assistance from Disabled Sports Victoria and Eltham Wildcats
Eltham Rotarians are asked to volunteer to assist in providing support on the day and through community and personal sponsorship of the students participating in the wheelchair relay on 27 May.

Then there were the Australian Natives, come to have a look see at what was happening.
Not what you thought, they were high up in the tree in glistening White.

Obviously come to see what's happening and show their respects. Then another mob arrived in another tree, fascinated at what those pesky humans were up to, chattering to each other, just hanging around.
It provided a very Australian backdrop. But when the crowd clapped they were off making a racket that drowned out the speaker.
