The 2017/18 Board met this week for our final meeting for the year. Mind you we whizzed through business before enjoying a convivial meal with the 2018/19 Board at Mercers Restaurant in Eltham. However the business we did have to discuss was important. We have now received the new Rules and Bylaws for the Club, developed for us by McKean Park Lawyers and incorporating changes brought about by the 2016 Rotary International Council on Legislation. We will send these out to all members during the next week or so, so that everyone has a chance to look at them before we ask for their ratification at Club Assembly in August. We also accepted with regret the resignation of Vicki Mackrell due to significantly extended commitments to her family which involves much travel. In tendering her resignation, Vicki paid tribute to the ‘amazing Rotarians - what a truly dynamic, fun-loving and dedicated group of people’ who I will greatly miss'. On the bright side, the Board was very pleased to hear that Ian Kiddle has decided to stay with the Club and has withdrawn his resignation.
The Board also agreed to President Elect Jill’s proposal to keep membership fees at their current level of $300 plus GST. These were ratified at the Club meeting last Thursday.
Last Thursday we were privileged to hear from Wendy Jenkins from Lungitude and the amazing lung transplant team at the Alfred Hospital - Professor Greg Snell, Head of Lung Transplant Service and Associate Professor Bronwyn Levvey, Manager of the Service Department. The Team at the Alfred is certainly pushing boundaries with its ground breaking work and is a world leader in the field. We were very pleased to be able to contribute to the fund-raising work of Lungitude. See you all on Thursday for my final Thursday meeting as President.

This week is President Judy's last meeting before changeover on the 6 July. Come along and celebrate this milestone meeting and also to hear incoming President Jill Ramsay present Rotarian Behind the Badge. The RBTB is always a great way to find out more about one of our members and, particularly as Jill is our incoming President, an opportunity for newer members to get to know her better.
