Congratulations to Ron and Mike for their most humorous presentation of the awards.
Sometimes our best nights come from our own members.It was interesting to get positive feedback about last weeks meeting from our new member prospects.
Congratulations to Judy,Paul and Ashleigh for their respective awards.
This weeks meeting will be a briefing from Festival Director Rob about our duties this weekend so please make the effort to attend on Thursday night.

Eltham Festival is upon us this coming weekend, we are all in training!! Festival Director, Rob Kilcullen, will lead the thorough briefing assisted by his enthusiastic & hard working team.
Alistair Knox Park is being manicured today and the really good news is the weather forecast sounds ideal for both Saturday & Sunday. Usually we restrict this meeting to Club Members and partners directly involved. However, President David encourages extra "Festival Buddies" to attend since a few more helpers would be welcome to boost back up to the Paul Kelly Roster.
President David will be assisted this week by Rob Kilcullen in the chair. Judy Sharp has her chance to further demonstrate how the girls gather more beans week by week than the boys!!…all good fun.
Venue is The Common, 6.15pm for 6.45pm; cost @ $35 for two course meal with drinks at bar prices.

Guest speaker: spoke of how funds are used via the Judith Ireland Awards to local students transitioning from primary to secondary schooling. CAVE makes a significant difference in helping to pay for computers, counselling sessions, camps etc.
Jill Ramsay affirmed as a recently retired School Principal just what a difference this assistance means to local families in need and how much the Awards mean to the young recipients.
Special guest, Ross ‘Twiggy’ Dunne spoke of his years playing with the Collingwood Football Club followed by becoming club secretary in 1978. Ross is best remembered for kicking a late goal that sent Collingwood’s 1977 Grand Final against North Melbourne into a replay.

INTERNATIONAL
Along with other Rotarians I participated in the recent Melbourne Marathon Event, completed the 5.7km run in 39mins and raised $400 for Aqua Box.
Ian (gunna) Toohill is in planning mode with Monty Secondary College to raise funds for Wheelchairs for Kids which we hope to run early in 2016. Frank Lynch is also planning to help raise funds for this worthwhile project.
In the New Year we will receive an update on the Kenya Kinship Project from Mike Wetzler.

A Letter to Ian Toohill.
Glad to know you are please with the work done. We will start the kinder and grade one class this January, the opening of school year. Next week we will already have the meeting of the local leaders in Hera. There are already parents coming to enroll their children
The ministry of education already visited the temporary classrooms, they approved. We can only accept 25 t0 30 kids for kinder and grade one.
The proposed school building is still a dream, we are trying to raise funds for this,with the hope that before the year 2016 will end this plan will already be materialized.
Yesterday your friends from Rotary came with David that fat guy.... They have seen the room; fotos I have sent to you. I told them of our desire to finish the remaining portion: two rooms,with bathroom and toilets so that the sisters can use it, funding is needed to complete the whole block.
I already purchased two big wall fans yesterday, ($ 280.00) still to be installed. The boys are more comfortable in that big dorm than the sleeping quarter in the other building.
What we need to fix ( small project) are the two toilets and bathrooms down where the boys are using. I will let you know how much budget we need for this.
