19th January 2017
Happy New Year! I trust everyone had a great Christmas with family and friends and that 2017 will bring you good health, happiness and satisfaction in whatever you aspire to achieve.

No need for any Rotary new year resolutions as we are only half way through the Rotary year and we have lots of fun and fellowship ahead and service commitments to complete.

Gary and Angela are setting the pace with a home invasion and spit roast this week in support of WEHI, while Graeme and Lyn have invited us all to Rye on 28th Jan to show us why several members are migrating to the peninsula lifestyle. Make sure you RSVP to these events.

Mike Englefield is putting together a great club night program, starting with ex Police Commissioner Kel Glare on 2nd February – a man with many tales to tell. A very interesting night to bring partners and prospective members.

New owner Kevin and his staff are very happy to have us back at The Common this year and we look forward to continuing quality food and service. We were pleased to partner with them in the Lions’ Christmas Giving Tree appeal through which The Common staff participated in the preparation of 70 hampers for needy families.

2017 marks the centenary of the Rotary Foundation. We will have some special fundraising events and also explore ways we can use grants to leverage funding for our projects. Building upon the success of the Christmas party raffle, Irene is now working with her team on a fun dance party night on 3rd March – a night to relax and enjoy the music with fellow Rotarians, friends and family while supporting our Foundation. Welcome on board for what promises to be an exciting and rewarding 2017 for THE Rotary Club of Eltham!

Cheers, President Kevin
