25 January 2018
What a long weekend - stifling temperatures, high emotion tennis, dismal cricket, Australia Day BBQs amid much discussion on what we were really celebrating….hope you’ve survived it all! For those of us lucky enough to be at the beach, the temperatures were much more bearable.
At the Rotary Club of Eltham, we are back to business with our normal Rotary meetings resuming this Thursday night at Heidelberg Golf Club. Please remember to RSVP to Denese via the on-line invitation you receive each week. Denese does a great job in managing attendance every week and replying promptly makes her life much easier and ensures we can give Heidelberg Golf Club accurate and timely attendance numbers. If you have any difficulties in using the on-line invitation, please speak to Denese or Ann.
We had a wonderful evening last Wednesday at the spit roast BBQ hosted by Margot and Rob Kilcullen. The meats were delicious, the salads and desserts delectable and plentiful and it was lovely to catch-up with everyone in such relaxed style. Many thanks to Rob and Margot for hosting us so generously, to Ken and Trevor who helped set up, to Andrew Stanley who loaned us the chairs and to the Eltham Rural group who loaned us table cloths, crockery and cutlery. Best of all, we raised some $1500 towards Australian Rotary Health.
The next Board meeting will be held on Wednesday 7 February at which we will be reviewing how we are tracking against our annual plan, updating our half yearly report to members, and finalising a short member survey to go out in February which will help planning for the 2018/19 Rotary year.Cheers,
President Judy

This Week at Rotary
The time you have all waited for has come.  After a long break celebrating Christmas and the New Year we kick off our first meeting for 2018 with this week’s guest speaker Mr Sam Nyhof.  Sam is the founder and owner of Vyron Electric Bikes, and will be giving a presentation on the ins and outs of the electric bike industry.Come along to catch up with your fellow Rotarians and to start the year off on a healthy note with finding out how electric bikes have changed and the benefits of using them.
Looking forward to seeing you all this Thursday 1 February 2018 at the Heidelberg Golf Club from 6.15pm.
Chairman:  Brett Linsell

District Conference 22-25 March 2018
The Conference is now only seven weeks away and we need to firm up bookings. Currently some 31 Eltham Rotarians and partners have indicated that they are attending the Conference. Have you booked for the Conference on Trybooking? To book go to the link on the flier below.  You can also book for the Conference dinner on Saturday evening at the same time - so far some 7 Eltham Rotarians are intending to go to the dinner.
Friday Night (23/3/18) We have booked a sunset dinner cruise on Lake Mulwala for our Friday night’s entertainment. The cruise is for 3 -4 hours, and includes dinner and  entertainment from a band. Drinks at bar prices - $45 per head. Some 31 people have indicated they wish to participate but there is space for more. The cruise will take 48 people so we will also open up bookings to other Rotarians if not fully subscribed by Eltham. Please confirm your participation in this event by emailing Jules Aussems on . We will set up Trybooking for forward payments for this event so stay tuned.
Accomodation Jules has organised accomodation at Club Mulwala (the Conference venue), and at Yarrawonga Holiday Park. There are still 4 rooms available at the Country Club and three cabins at the Holiday Park. Please contact Jules by email if you wish to book one of these options. All caravan spots reserved for Eltham Rotary are taken but there may be more available by contacting the Holiday Park directly on 57443420 and mentioning Eltham Rotary.
Any enquiries please speak with Jules 0415108440
