As a component of our Environment program we are conducting a community BEE awareness program centred on the UN World Bee Day on 20 May.
The project is to increase public awareness of bees: their importance to agriculture and the environment; the decline in bee populations; and the countermeasures available, particularly actions which residents can take by plant selections and habitat support.
The program comprises:
  • RCE Information Stall in Eltham Town Square on UN World Bee Day - Thurs. 20 May and Sat. 22 May;
  • Displays and activities at Edendale Farm on beekeeping, bee-friendly plants and habitat - Thurs 20 May – Sun 23 May;
  • RCE Information Stall at Eltham Farmers Market, adjacent to “Heidi Honey” (Bee Rescue Hurstbridge) - Sunday 23 May;
  • A program of Facebook and website postings highlighting bee-related issues and the community awareness events.
Our RCE World Bee Day program is included on www.worldbeeday.org.au.

As we rapidly approach the program dates, there’s lots to be done and we would welcome your participation to ensure the success of this program. Give Ross a call.
